Doug Close

Guitar / Vocals

Started taking guitar lessons as a kid but was never taught bar chords so I gave up. In college, working as a sound guy and DJ, I befriended bands and was enlightened to the world of bar chords thus realizing anyone can play Rock music without even reading music. Sure enough I teamed up with current Bound4Trouble bandmate Steve Holmberg to form the Hootenanny Hobos and recorded the now almost impossible to find album "Music from the Big White" at Eastern Illinois University. I continued to play in various bands with Steve through the 80s and 90s and even had the opportunity to open for Survivor, but they cancelled and we ended opening for Barney The Dinosaur at Streamwood Fest. Rock On!

Guitar / Guitar Synthesizer

Getting into a band all started after meeting Doug Close at EIU. I remember it vividly. We were having a party, I walked into our apartment and this guy (Doug) was leaning against the wall, wearing black biker boots and no eyebrows (shaved off). Figured out we both played the guitar and the first of many bands (all with Doug) were formed. Sean McClain and I go back to Jr. High. Messed around with Sean and some other friends in High School playing covers. Rik was in search for a band, we were in need of a bass player. Has worked out great for the many years we have been together. Rik has now taken on the lead vocals for the band, and is doing a great job!

Began playing the electric bass in 1983. Played with the award winning Hersey High school Jazz Ensemble all 4 scholastic years while joining various local heavy metal and blues based rock and roll bands. Not long after graduation was discovered by the founding members of Close Enough, and the rest is rock and roll history. Currently enjoys listening to and playing music from different genres while writing original songs for B4T. 12 year old Son, Brett Z. has started providing B4T with vocal support and is expanding his repertoire with the band. Favorite saying: "Viva, Las Vegas!"
